Gainesville Health & Fitness Centers has a week of activities planned to encourage and make it easier for Alachua County women to focus on their health during National Women’s Health Week.

Free group exercise classes, health fairs and screenings, a physicians seminar of interest to mothers, and social events including massages and mini-makeovers are planned for the week after Mother’s Day, May 12 - 16.

The biggest highlight of the week, though, may be a 2-mile walk on Wednesday, May 14, that will also support the Girls Club of Alachua County. For every woman who completes the 6 p.m. walk, GHFC will donate $5 to the Girls Club.

The Girls Club of Alachua County was chosen because of its focused mission of developing girls into healthy, successful women through after school sports and recreation programs, said Debbie Lee, Director of Marketing for GHFC.
