Introduction

Welcome to Gainesville Health & Fitness. We want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to create an experience that will help you get the most out of life and inspire you to become your best. Our staff of almost 500 strong will help you with every step of your fitness adventure.

You can expect more choices, the best variety, and the most innovative programs to get you fit, healthy, and living your best life, now and at every lifestyle stage.

To better understand who we are , take a quick look at where we came from, which reveals a long history of continuous improvement.

GHF started as a small facility located above a bank on Archer Road in the mid-1970s. Our original space was about the size of our lobby in the GHF Main location today. In 1978, we moved to the Creekside Mall and expanded to 11,000 square feet. In 1984, after realizing many women wanted a private environment, we built a center exclusively for women in Thornebrook Village. In 1986, our coed facility moved to Westgate Regency and expanded to 31,000 square feet. In 1988, after collaborating with the University College of Medicine to research ways to help people with low back pain, we opened our physical therapy center known today as ReQuest Physical Therapy. In 1996, we moved our coed center to the current Newberry Road location.

In 2007, GHF opened its third location in the Tioga Town Center. It became the second coed center in the GHF family. One membership gives you access to all three unique locations with no additional charge.

Living our culture of continuous improvement, we began a massive renovation and expansion project to GHF Main in 2013. Using the same New York architect that designed our beautiful Tioga location, we were able to create the same high end contemporary design you see today. We expanded the facility by 12,000 square feet and completely renovated every inch of space. The same process of renovation was done at our Women's Center.

As you can see, we are constantly expanding and improving to make your membership more valuable each year. We are always looking into the future to bring you the best of everything from equipment, classes, programs, and most importantly staff.

Our mission is to inspire an entire community-we are a local company dedicated to Alachua and surrounding counties. Our core purpose is to create an experience to help you get the most out of life and inspire you to become your best. And our vision is to become one of the best businesses for the world.

Chapter 1

Supervised Strength Circuit

Perfect For The First-Time Exerciser Who Is Unfamiliar With How To Lift

The foundation of GHF can be found in the circuit line.  When owner Joe Cirulli was putting together the exercise floor of his first club, he asked "how can I set up the equipment so my mom and dad would know how to work out?"  And, "the Line" was created.

The Circuit Line at GHF offers supervised strength training for those wanting instruction and motivation along with the most efficient use of time. The Line consists of 7-9 machines organized from biggest to smallest muscle groups for the most efficient, effective workout in less than 30 minutes.

Group Fitness Classes

We know people like to hang out in groups, it's social, it's fun, it's motivating. There is a comfort and a need to belong to a group.

At GHF we provide exercise groups that are inclusive, supportive, and challenging with the best instructors you will find. They include Cycling, Zumba, Aqua, Yoga, Body Pump, Booty School and many more. The variety of our group exercise classes will make your fitness experience memorable and you’ll even make some new friends. GroupFit classes are included in your membership.

Aquix

Indoor Pool, Classes, Sauna, Steam, Whirlpool, Cold Punge, Swimming

Dive into pure relaxation and awaken your body in the newly remodeled pool area at GHF Main.

We've created a healing environment designed to encourage rest and reduce stress. The ReCOVERY EXPERIENCE is a spa haven unlike any other. Where you can unwind, chill out, or just be.

Swimming is a good fitness choice for just about everyone, from those who find other forms of exercise painful to the athlete using water to train or rehab. Water affords 12 times the resistance as air in every direction making it a cardiovascular and strengthening work out.

Experience the complete recovery component of Aquix with aqua group fitness classes, a Himalyan salt wall sauna, a refreshing steam room, relaxing hot tub, arctic cold plunge, and warm therapy pool.

Sky Cycle - A Ride Around The World


Our Sky Cycle studio offers a unique experience you will not find anywhere else. Designed by our architect out of New York, it offers stadium seating, 50 bikes, and virtual technology that gives you an immersive workout experience. 


You will experience a fast-paced, low impact cardio workout that can accommodate beginners and experienced riders. 

Certified, energetic instructors will teach you, motivate you, and create a community that connects everyone.  Exercise is more fun together!

Kids Club

So cool, your kids will bring you to the gym!

We create such an engaging experience for the children that they want to drop their parents off at the gym. We give parents the peace of mind knowing their children are receiving social, emotional, and educational benefits in a safe environment.

Show the kids your healthy lifestyle

Our members are important to us and so are their children. We do not want any obstacle to deter our members from their daily workout routine including trying to find a babysitter. That’s why we created our Kids Club. Here our friendly staff will take care of your children for free while you take care of yourself. It’s part of our philosophy of helping our members get the most out of life!

Indoor Basketball & Volleyball

A court experience combining the thrill of sport and the satisfaction of working as a team toward a common goal.

The Why of Indoor Basketball & Volleyball

We built an indoor basketball and volleyball court to promote fun and teamwork year-round, no matter the weather. You can shoot around or find a great group of fellow members who will energize you into that competitive arena. Either way, it’s a fantastic way to gain strength, coordination, and muscular endurance. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to be a part of a team and a larger community.

X-Force Negative Training

Mission Statement

To achieve great strength gains in less time! Results that previously required several workouts a week can now be stimulated in ONE workout a week! For EVERYONE!

The Why of X-FORCE

X- Force is the most meaningful advance in strength training in the last 30 years. A patented "tilting" weight stack allows for a 40% heavier resistance on the "negative" (lowering) part of the exercise. This heavier negative resistance allows for a greater intensity of effort through a higher quality of resistance. The fundamental point of X-Force Training, compared to other forms of training, is to deliver a combination of static, concentric and increased eccentric resistance.

GHF Personal Training began as part of a research project with the Nautilus Company in 1985. Since that time, GHF Personal Training has revolutionized the training industry with specialized, nationally certified trainers who have an expertise in every aspect of program design--this means you have access to the knowledge, training, and practice of 45 trainers.  You won't find this anywhere else in the region.

Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, Pilates can transform the way your body looks, feels, and performs. Exercises performed in Pilates sessions focus on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, developing strong muscles, and improving coordination and balance. Through Pilates you can develop body awareness, improve posture and flexibility, and help alleviate pain throughout the body.

We answer members health questions and assist patients in the lifelong transition from rehab to a lifetime of fitness.

The Why of Request

After the owner of GHF suffered a serious knee injury requiring surgery, he was sent to rehab. It didn't take him long to realize what was missing. He felt that to be truly effective it had to be modernized both in the environment and equipment. Within a short period of time GHF became involved in a major medical research study with UF College of Medicine. The results were astonishing and plans for our center were put into place staffed with an inspired team of therapists.

CrossFit

Mission Statement

To achieve a varied high intensity, functional movement with the goal of reaching your personal best.

The Why of CrossFit

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program with equipment that includes barbells, dumbbells, battle ropes, pull-up bars, kettlebells, medicine balls, and boxes for box jumps. These elements are mixed in numerous combinations to form prescribed “Workouts of the Day” or “WODs”. Workouts are typically intense, demanding all-out physical exertion. However, these workouts are accessible to nearly everyone and "scaleable" to all levels of fitness. They combine movements such as sprinting, rowing, jumping rope, climbing rope, flipping tires, weightlifting, carrying heavy objects, and many bodyweight exercises. While you are getting to your best level of fitness, you will find the most bonded fitness family anywhere--for the ultimate experience.

TRIBE Team Training™ is small group training that creates the opportunity for us all to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. TRIBE is designed to take members beyond their limits by making individuals strong and functionally fit also incorporating flexibility and stability training. Members participate in six-week seasons on a team guided by their coach. To offer flavorful nutritious smoothies and healthy snack choices to complement our members' quest for a healthy lifestyle, served in a convenient, friendly and inviting environment.

The Why of J-Bar

More and more people are becoming health-conscious and active. GHF offers both exercise and proper nutrition with healthier snack and beverage choices to help our members reach their fitness goals. Many people believe that the optimal time for absorption of nutrients is within a 10-30 minute time frame after heavy exercise. Having a smoothie bar helps our members get the nutrients and offers other refreshments needed after a good workout.

ECHO Of GHF 

Gainesville's Largest Outdoor Fitness Pavilion

Echo is be comprised of four components - Peak Conditioning, specialty workshops, GroupFit classes and lifestyle events. Peak Conditioning is part of our Signature Training options and is a fee-based program. However, there are designated open gym times for members to use tires, sleds, ropes and more or take advantage of a 10-station circuit and GroupFit classes that is fully included in your membership. Lifestyle events will also be free and open to the public. 

GHF is bringing you closer to the outdoors with events like farmers markets, lululemon shop events, Gator game tailgates, Halloween trick-or-treat, pictures with Santa, cook outs, craft fairs, and family fitness events.

HydroMassage Technology to Relax & Recover

The Why of Chill

The accumulated stresses of everyday life can damage your health in irreversible ways — from early aging to heart problems and long-term disability. While we know you cannot eliminate stress, you can manage it and it’s worth every effort to do so. We created CHILL by GHF to help you relax, reduce stress, and recover from workouts, hectic schedules, or everyday life.

Each session is 10 minutes and will loosen up muscles, help relieve muscle soreness, increase oxygen and blood flow into muscles, and deliver nutrients from your body to your muscles. You will walk out of the gym feeling like a new person.

You will only find Chill at GHF Main.  Come on over and give it a try.  We will help you get started.
