Hiring and Enculturation Manager
Hometown: Gainesville, FL
Before working at GHF, what was the most interesting or usual job you've ever had? GHF was actually my first job! I started here shortly after turning 16 years old. However, the summer after getting the job here, I worked as a Counselor in Training at Camp Crystal in their Adventure Camp. At this job I got to work with 6th-11th grade campers and teach them how to canoe, camp, and explore nature!
What advice would you give to new hires? Always ask questions when you are unsure of something and vice versa always explain why to everyone. If you are unsure of something, never be scared to ask why or what to do. No one will ever be upset that you want to do your job well.
Also, whenever you are with a coworker, member and/or guest always explain why to them. Like why you are escorting them somewhere, why you are transferring them to another employee, why we have a main line, why we have a kid's club, why GHF is even here! This is effective communication so you don't make the assuption that everyone understands why you are doing something.
What is your favorite place in the world? I would say my favorite place in the world would be traveling to new places. It has been a personal goal of mine every year to travel to at least one new country and learn about their culture. We are so stuck in our day to day and how we do things but it's amazing to change things up and see how others live their days.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Green with Twinkling Turquoise Glitter. First, green can be seen as inquiring and seeking knowledge. This is something I feel describes who I am and what I am trying to do in my life. Second, turquoise is represented by being approachable and easy to communicate with, which is what I try to be. Lastly, twinkling glitter because I believe you should leave a little sparkle wherever you go!
