Get Started with CrossFit

CrossFit at GHF is different than any other because every coach is a nationally certified personal trainer. You get the best workouts with the highest level of safety to reach your personal best. CrossFit at GHF helps everyone from beginners to seasoned athletes and there are several ways to get started on the turf.

3 Week Beginners Guide 

Upcoming Dates: February 5 - 21, 2018

GHF CrossFit offers a one-of-a-kind Beginners Guide to CrossFit course for those new to the sport. 

At GHF CrossFit, we will teach you the fundamentals of CrossFit, not just the first time, but every time you come out to the Tioga Turf. The best way to accomplish this is by the 3 Week Beginner's Guide to CrossFit. The workouts are comprised of movements common to CrossFit (Kettlebell Swings, Wall Balls, Burpees, Ball Slams, and Pull-Ups). From the Beginner's Guide, you'll then go directly into the WOD's with other CrossFit athletes. 

Make sure to bring a water bottle and towel. Wear comfortable gym attire and shoes, and check in with the front desk before heading out to the main gate for the CrossFit Turf. 

Classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:45pm and Saturdays at 9am.

6 Week New Years Challenge

Start off 2018 right! Whether you're a long time fitness enthusiast or brand new, this challenge is for YOU! Jump into GHF CrossFit’s NEW program 3 times a week & get the accountability you need along with added challenge benefits. The 6 Week Challenge includes three times a week classes, two InBody scans, pre & post fitness test, a mobility clinic & a nutrition workshop. 

Choose from three times a week:
M/W/F @ 6:30am | T/TH/Sat. @ 9am | T/TH @ 6:15pm & Sat. 9am

Want to see what CrossFit is all about? Try a free trial class and one of our coaches will guide you through a CrossFit workout.

Here's what to expect during your first time on the turf: 

  1. Introduction: We'll learn about your goals, current workout regimen, and any injuries or pre-existing conditions you may have.
  2. Warm-up: A brief of easy movements to get you warm and prepared to do work.
  3. Mobility: Stretches and exercises to ensure you're able to maintain safe, sound positions.
  4. Exercise Review: Moving safely and effectively is always our top goal and you will be led through a few different exercises to check your form.
  5. WOD: WOD stands for Workout Of The Day - it's the part of CrossFit that you usually see or hear about. It's typically performed in a circuit style format, where you move from one exercise to another with minimal or no rest in between. We'll give you a WOD to meet your current fitness level and we'll encourage you to do your best, rest assured there will be no pressure to over-do it. :)
  6. Cool-down: A few finishing stretches to bring your heart rate back down in a safe manner. You'll also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
